Your data
Privacy notice.
Mane Men LTD ("Mane Men", "we") runs Mane Men Barbers at 351B Dunstable Rd, Luton LU4 8BY, and this website. We are the data controller for the personal information you give us here. Questions about your data: Manemenbarbershop@gmail.com or 07798 682066.
What we collect
- When you book: your name, mobile number, optional email, the barber, service, day and time you choose, how you plan to pay (card or cash in the shop), any notes, and an optional inspiration photo. If you book a second cut for someone else, their first name too. If you make it a regular booking, the dates that creates.
- After your cut, if you agree: your barber may take a photo of the finished cut. It's kept with your booking so you can book "the same again", share it, and so your barber can see it next time. Ask them not to, and no photo is taken.
- On the day: if you tap "I'm here" or "running late" in your account, the time you did.
- If you turn on app notifications: a notification address for your phone (not your number), so we can send you reminders and alerts without texting.
- If you tip online or join the membership: Stripe handles the payment; we keep the amount, which barber a tip was for, and whether your membership is active.
- If you join the walk-in queue: your name, mobile, the cut you want and when you joined. Cleared the same night.
- Your style card and preferences: if your barber writes down how you like your cut (fade, guards, neckline, product), and anything you tell us about how you like the chair (quiet or chatty, music, a drink). Kept with your account so any barber can give you the same cut.
- If you create an account: your name and mobile number (and email if you add one), plus a record of your bookings, what they cost, any loyalty coupons, and the times you signed in.
- If you join a waitlist or buy a gift voucher: your name and mobile (waitlist), or your name, email, the recipient's name and your message (vouchers).
- If you write a review: your first name, star rating, review and, if you give it, your booking reference.
- Technical data: like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details when you visit, to deliver the page and keep the site secure.
Why we use it
- To provide your booking (performing a contract with you): we put your booking on the barber's calendar in our staff app, text you a reminder the day before, and let you cancel or check it.
- To run your account and loyalty coupons (contract): signing in by text code, showing your bookings and payments, and issuing coupons.
- To reduce no-shows and run the shop (our legitimate interests): appointment reminders, waitlist texts when a chair opens, marking appointments as attended, and keeping records of bookings and payments.
- Referral codes (contract): if a friend signs up with your code, we link the two accounts so you both get your reward.
- To publish reviews (consent): we only show your first name, never your surname or contact details, and every review is approved before it appears.
We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. The only marketing texts we send are a single "it's been a while" message if you haven't been in for a couple of months, a "your cut's growing out" reminder about three weeks after a cut (at most once a month), and one request for a review after a cut (at most one every three months). Both carry a one-tap opt-out link, and you'll never get them again once you've used it.
Who we share it with
- Your barber, so they know who's coming.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and stores booking and account data.
- Twilio sends our text messages (sign-in codes, the day-before reminder, and alerts you ask for, like the waitlist).
- Resend sends emails you ask for, such as a gift voucher. Booking details are never emailed to staff. An inspiration photo is kept with your booking so only your barber and the shop can see it, and deleted after 60 days.
- Stripe handles online payments (deposits and gift vouchers). You enter card details on Stripe's own page, so we never see or store them. We keep a record of what was paid.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits (pages viewed, rough location by country, device type) so we can see how the site is used. It doesn't use cookies or track you across other sites.
- The map on Find Us comes from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address when the map loads.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK. When they do, they use safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as the International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Bookings and payment records: 2 years after your last booking, then deleted.
- Photos of your finished cut: 12 months, then deleted. App notification addresses: until you turn notifications off or the phone stops receiving them.
- Accounts: until you ask us to delete yours, or 2 years after you last signed in.
- Sign-in codes: 10 minutes. Signed-in sessions: up to 60 days.
- Reviews: while they're shown on the site, or until you ask us to remove yours.
Cookies
We only use cookies that the site needs to work: one keeps you signed in to your account (mm_session), and two keep our staff signed in to their private pages. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and our visitor statistics are cookieless, so there's nothing to accept or decline.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. You can update your name and email yourself on your account page. For anything else, contact us using the details above and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
